SXSWi '11 day three: Top bold digital moments & ideas
From food trucks and games of four square to rewards flash-mobs and achieving enchantment, here are the highlights from day three of SXSWi:
1. Foodspotting Street Food Fest
Hungry SXSWiers found comfort in Foodspotting's SXSW Street Food Fest. The mouth-watering event incorporated a scavenger hunt, sponsored by Blackberry, that encouraged attendees to sample local fare from some of Austin's most popular food trucks and gain swag in the process.
2. Guy Kawasaki's Ten Tips for Achieving Enchantment
To introduce his new book "Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions," Kawasaki gave the SXSWi audience a top ten list of how brands – personal or commercial – can become enchanting:
- Achieve Likability: Smile with the eyes, dress like a peer and have a great handshake
- Achieve Trustworthiness: You have to trust others before they will trust you
- Get Ready: Always be prepared and do something great
- Launch: Tell a story to all levels of influencers
- Overcome Resistance: Be innovative and do your due diligence
- Endure: Invoke reciprocation and don’t rely on money
- Present: Be able to speak and pitch
- Use Technology: Use pre-existing tools like social media to provide value

4. Pepsi Max and Foursquare
Combine photo booths, free products, a recess-style game of four square and loud music and you have a buzzworthy crowd magnet. The Pepsi Max lot incorporated several entertaining elements that created a successful over-flow area for SXSWi attendees. Pepsi brought in hand-painted cocktail tables, distributed free Pepsi Max and kept the energy high by integrating a live four square game. Users of the geo-location app Foursquare could also check-in at the game to earn the "foursquare with foursquare" badge. Guests left with t-shirts, buttons and other tzotchkes and went on to spread the word about this refreshing spot.
5. CNN Grill
You know SXSW is big when CNN takes over a local restaurant to create the “CNN Grill,” a broadcast center located in the heart of downtown Austin airing through both CNN.com and the cable channel. While the SXSW badge won't get you into this event, CNN plans on producing live reports and special music performances throughout the conference and has created a Twitter account, @cnnsxsw, that annouces the grill's latest news.
